ELD Coordinator

The K12 English Language Development (ELD) Coordinator at CRIS is a pivotal role responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing English language acquisition programs for students who are English language learners (ELLs). This individual will collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to ensure that ELLs receive high-quality instruction and support services to help them achieve academic success and language proficiency.

Qualifications:

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Education
• Qualified teacher status
• Two years of successful teaching experience desired
• Model differentiated instruction
• Experience working with children who have English as a Second Language
• International School experience is desirable
• Knowledge of current practices in understanding by design, assessment,
and instructional technology
• Good communication skills
• Ability to adapt to new situations

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement English language development programs and curriculum aligned
with CRIS adopted standards
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to provide differentiated instruction and support
strategies that promote language acquisition and academic achievement for ELLs.
• Conduct ongoing assessment of ELLs’ language proficiency levels and academic progress
to inform instructional planning and intervention strategies.
• Provide professional development and training opportunities for teachers and staff
members to enhance their knowledge and skills in effectively supporting ELLs in the
classroom.
• Collaborate with special education staff and other support personnel to address the
unique needs of ELLs with disabilities or special learning requirements.
• Serve as a resource and advocate for ELLs and their families, providing information,
guidance, and support on academic, social, and cultural matters.
• Develop partnerships with community organizations, cultural institutions, and language
service providers to enhance resources and opportunities for ELLs and their families.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of English language development programs and
initiatives, making recommendations for continuous improvement based on data and
best practices.
