A year 4 generalist primary school teacher, in an international programme, is responsible for providing a comprehensive education to children, typically ranging from ages 5 to 12, across various subjects. This role requires a versatile educator capable of teaching a wide range of subjects, adapting to different learning needs, and fostering a multicultural understanding among students. We are looking for teachers who truly believe all students can succeed, who believe that students deserve the best education possible, and who are relentless and won’t stop working when it gets difficult. Job Overview:
The Generalist Primary School Teacher is responsible for delivering an engaging and inclusive curriculum across various subjects to students in a primary school setting. The teacher will plan, prepare, and deliver educational activities that facilitate active learning experiences and promote the intellectual and social development of children. The teacher must be committed to creating a nurturing and safe classroom environment that respects diversity and encourages students to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
– Curriculum Development and Instruction: Design and implement lesson plans that align with the school’s curriculum objectives and accommodate the diverse learning needs of students. Teach a broad range of subjects, including literacy, numeracy, science, social studies, and art, ensuring an integrated and holistic approach to learning.
– Student Assessment: Continuously assess student performance through formal and informal methods to monitor progress and provide timely feedback. Adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of students and set individual learning goals.
– Classroom Management: Create and maintain a safe, orderly, and supportive classroom environment that encourages students to take an active role in their learning. Implement classroom routines and discipline strategies that foster respect, responsibility, and positive behavior.
– Parental Engagement: Maintain open lines of communication with parents and guardians regarding their children’s progress, behavior, and social development. Organize and participate in parent-teacher conferences and school events.
– Professional Development: Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with educational research and best practices. Engage in self-reflection and seek feedback to improve teaching effectiveness.
– Cultural Sensitivity and Inclusion: Foster an inclusive classroom environment that respects the cultural backgrounds of all students. Incorporate multicultural perspectives into teaching materials and classroom discussions to promote understanding and acceptance.
– Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues to plan interdisciplinary units, share teaching strategies, and support school initiatives. Participate in team meetings and contribute to the school community.
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s Degree in Education, iPGCE or a relevant field;
– Teaching certification or licensure for primary education.
– A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience, preferably in an international school setting.
– Fluency in English; proficiency in a second language is an advantage.
– Strong understanding of child development and primary education best practices.
– Ability to design and implement creative and engaging lesson plans that meet diverse learning needs.
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and colleagues.
– Demonstrated commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment that respects diversity.
– Competency in using educational technology and digital learning tools.
Preferred skills and qualifications:
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Proficient with Google platform
- Phonics trained

Working Conditions:
– The role requires flexibility in hours, duties as required including some evenings and weekends for school events, meetings, and parent-teacher conferences.
