Azure Data Engineer

The Opportunity

Our partner is one of the world’s largest humanitarian organizations based in Australia with 110 years’ experience and a community of 20,000+ members.

The Data Engineer position will serve as the primary Azure expert within the team, stationed within the IT Data department. This role will take charge of overseeing Azure Data technologies, including the Data Lake, Data Warehouse and Azure Fabric, by spearheading their design, implementation, and ongoing support. Additionally, the individual will play a pivotal role in advancing the company’s data analytics capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, design, develop, and deploy data pipelines and ETL processes using Azure Data Factory, Azure Fabric, Databricks
  • Build data models (dimensional / data vaults) and deploy and configure, maintain Azure SQL databases, ensuring best practices are followed for security, scalability, and performance.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data solutions to ensure data quality, integrity, and availability.
  • Implement security measures and data governance policies to protect sensitive information.
  • Identify and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, security etc.
  • Work with stakeholders including the Business and IT teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data needs.
  • Administer and govern the use of Power BI toolset.

Skill, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in a Data Engineer role, who has attained a Graduate degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems or another quantitative field.
  • Microsoft Azure certifications such as Azure Data Engineer Associate or Azure Solutions Architect are advantageous.
  • Experience with Azure Services and Power Platform tools such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Synapse Analytics,
  • Experience with Analytics platforms such as Microsoft Fabric or Databricks.
